Stardust Power and OG&E Finalize Key Infrastructure Agreement
Another huge step in Stardust's Oklahoma lithium refinery progress
Stardust Power Inc. has announced a pivotal agreement with Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company (OG&E) to develop an electric substation at Stardust Power's proposed lithium refinery site in Muskogee, Oklahoma. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the development of one of North America's largest lithium refineries, set to play a crucial role in strengthening the domestic supply chain for battery-grade lithium.
The agreement entails OG&E handling the engineering, procurement, and construction of the substation, funded by Stardust Power through a long-term usage commitment. This infrastructure will support the refinery's anticipated power load requirements of up to 40 megawatts, ensuring reliable and scalable electrical service for the facility.
Roshan Pujari, Founder and CEO of Stardust Power, emphasized the importance of this partnership: "Reliable and scalable electrical service is a cornerstone of our refinery’s operations, and OG&E’s partnership ensures we’ll have the necessary foundation to power this transformative facility as we build it out and operate it in the future."
Pujari also highlighted the broader significance of the refinery: "Our lithium refinery will be crucial for addressing U.S. national security and supply chain risks. By onshoring critical mineral manufacturing, we are helping to sustain America’s energy leadership."
Chris Celano, Chief Operations Officer of Stardust Power, added: "This is a crucial step in bringing power to our site and advancing our project to the next phase. It’s also a key move toward fulfilling our commitment to job creation and clean energy innovation in Muskogee and Oklahoma."
This announcement builds on Stardust Power's previous commitments to Muskogee, including the strategic selection of the Southside Industrial Park for the refinery. The facility is expected to produce up to 50,000 metric tons annually of battery-grade lithium, contributing significantly to U.S. energy independence.
In a recent article, I highlighted the economic incentives and job creation potential associated with Stardust Power's Muskogee refinery. The project is set to generate hundreds of well-paying jobs and attract further investment to the region, supporting Oklahoma’s growing leadership in clean energy and advanced manufacturing.
Additionally, the latest developments in Muskogee reflect the city's commitment to innovation and sustainable growth. From local news updates to community initiatives, Muskogee continues to thrive as a hub for energy and critical minerals processing.
Stay tuned for more updates on Stardust Power's transformative projects and their impact on Muskogee and beyond.
